CUPID’S arrow has hit home in Redditch council chamber after Councillors Greg Chance and Debbie Taylor tied the knot on the beach while on holiday in Antigua.
The love-struck twosome both represent the same ward – Central – and both are members of the same political party – Labour.
The duo first met in the council chamber and their marriage continues a long tradition at Redditch town hall of married couples representing residents.
Previous husband and wives include Ron and Betty Passingham, Iris and Ray Beech and Robin and Vanda King while Brandon and Anita Clayton are serving councillors now.
Both Greg and Debbie joined the council in 2004 with Debbie, currently portfolio holder for the environment, serving continuously and Greg, who is also deputy leader of the council and portfolio holder for planning having a break in 2008/9.
“Married couples are a tradition on the council – although it’s not compulsory – and we wish them all the very best,” said Coun Bill Hartnett, the leader of the council.
