PUPILS at Feckenham First School really got cooking last week when they dug for their very own clay oven then cooked delicious pizzas in it.
The Forest School initiative delighted the students and saw them get very dirty indeed as they mixed the clay with straw to great their very own cob oven now sitting proudly in the reflection garden.
The youngsters were guided by Matthew Lloyd from The Fabulous Cob Oven Company who worked with all the pupils to create an oven that’s been used for thousands of years but is still totally relevant today.
Last Thursday was ‘pizza party day’ with everyone cooking handmade pizzas which were done in just 90 seconds in the cob oven.
A school spokesperson said: “Matthew was incredible with all our pupils and has a real passion for bringing the outdoor environment back to the forefront of children’s lives.
“His philosophy mirrors ours at Feckenham, therefore it was a pleasure to invite Matthew into our school.”
