YOUNG homeless people received a boost last week thanks to the efforts of staff and pupils at Crabbs Cross Academy when they handed a cheque to Redditch charity Night Stop.

The money was raised through the school’s annual Harvest Day celebrations bringing in a staggering £125 pounds aswell as collecting a generous amount of tinned food for the local food bank.

Staff ran a soup kitchen for the 250 pupils, with Sainsbury’s bakery manager Richard Harris providing the bread rolls.

Rebekah Bott from Night Stop said: ”Our charity provides temporary and long term accomodation to support young homeless people. We also run a drop-in service at the Ecumenial Centre which is opposite the Emmanuel Church in the Redditch town centre”.

Night Stop takes in young homeless people who are 16-25 years of age to help find them accomodation and live independent lives, hopefully gaining their own future tenancy.
