A FUND-RAISING concert in aid of two mental health charities has been deemed a success by the Mayor of Redditch and the leader of Redditch Borough Council.
Mayor Joe Baker and Councillor Bill Hartnett attended the event at the Metis Aerospace Sports & Social Club in Batchley on Saturday (October 29) and hailed the quality of the music on offer.
“It was a great night for a great cause. We all enjoyed ourselves and raised money for charity as well,” said Coun Hartnett.
“There was lots of good music with not only the Redditch Community Gospel Choir, but also local rapper FLEX and Redditch group Synkopation,”
The event, organised by Rosie Steer and the Community Gospel Choir, invited guests to enjoy a selection of live music and find out more about mental health services available to Redditch residents.
Mayor Joe Baker said: “Redditch Community Gospel Choir put on a fantastic show.
“It was wonderful to attend the event. It is vital that we put mental health issues forward and raise awareness not only for the sufferers but also the families and careers,
“This invisible illness has not had the Government funding and the awareness it needs and I am so pleased our communities here in Redditch are reaching out to change this.”
