KEEP warm and save money in Redditch this winter with a ‘Winter Warmer’ event next week.
On December 1, there will be drop-in sessions from 10am-2pm at the REDI Centre on South Street, and then from 2pm-4pm at Abbeydale Community Club on Woodfield Close.
Some residents have already saved over £200 a year by switching energy suppliers at the events, as well as receiving some free smoke alarms and energy monitors. The many organisations on hand at the events have also helped to refer people to programmes like the Redditch Energy Efficiency Fund, grants for repairs and adaptations, and home energy and fire safety checks.
Coun Mark Shurmer, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for housing, said: “In these tough times when family budgets are being squeezed it’s important that people have the opportunity to get good information on the best ways to save money on home heating, which is a real essential.”
AgeUK, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Act on Energy, Care and Repair, NEW Lifeline and Severn Trent Water continue to be involved in the events, which are specifically designed to help people get their bills down and heat their homes.
The events are being organised by Redditch Borough Council and partners, with Worcestershire County Council.
Those coming to the events hoping to switch energy suppliers to save money, should bring along an energy bill.
