Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault on a 12 year-old boy in Redditch on Thursday, 10 November.
At around 3.30pm, the victim was walking along a footpath between Exhall Close and Barnwood Close when he is reported to have been kicked by another boy, causing injuries that required surgery in hospital.
It is believed that a white man aged in his early 20s and wearing a grey tracksuit stopped to check if the victim was okay and police are appealing for him to contact officers.
Detective Constable Carol Davenport of West Mercia Police said: “I’d like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault to contact us.
“We would particularly like to speak to the man who stopped to check on the injured boy as he could have important information about the incident.
“We are treating this as an isolated incident and I would like to reassure the local community that officers have been conducting enquiries in the area and are following a number of lines of enquiry at this time.”
