A REDDITCH nurse has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse.

Julie Rae, who lives in Walkwood, was given the title which aims to bring together nurses who share common values, by community nursing charity The Queens Nursing Institute (QNI)

Dr Crystal Oldman, chief executive of the QNI said: “Congratulations are due to Julie for her success. Community nurses are expert professionals who make a vital contribution to patient health and well being every day.

“As a national charity the QNI share innovation and best practice, supporting nurses to deliver excellent healthcare to patients in local communities.”

47 year-old Julie, who is qualified community nurse specialising in occupational health, said: “Getting the award was such a great honour – I was very happy to receive it.

“For me nursing is all about helping people get through difficult times, and supporting and advising them when they need it most.”

A Queen’s Nurse is someone who is committed to high standards of practice and patient-centred care and the title is awarded to individual nurses who have demonstrated an enhanced ability to hit those high standards.
