AN appeal has gone out to kind hearted Redditch residents to help local charity Acts of Kindness promote the act of giving at their festive supermarket drive.
People are needed to hand out leaflets and help collect food at the two day drive in aid of the borough’s hard pressed and homeless families this Christmas.
The event is at Tesco on Coldfield Drive on Friday and Saturday, December 2-3.
The charity, which runs Redditch Foodbank and is based at Oasis on the corner of Plymouth Road and Bromsgrove Road, has already been overwhelmed by the generosity of local people donating toys and cash for their festive appeal.
Now the Reverend Robin Baker is asking for one more push to help give the town’s needy a proper Christmas.
“We’d like to thank people for the incredible generosity they have shown to help others less fortunate than themselves,” he said.
“The people of this town have always been incredibly kind to us and now need help with the food collection, particularly on the Friday,” he said.
People are needed to hand out a leaflet listings a range of goods for the charity which the shopper can, if they wish, choose to buy an item from.
This would then be handed to the charity workers when the shopper left the store.
“We need people to greet shoppers and ask them if they would consider buying something off the list, and then help to crate it up as we go along,” said the Rev Baker.
The appeal will run from 9am to 5pm and ideally the Rev Baker and half shifts are available.
