A GROUP of enthusiastic junior police cadets were watched proudly at their passing out parade in Redditch earlier this month.
The Birchensale school pupils passed out with PCSO Muzafar Yaqub and PCSO Becky Challinor on November 10, supported by parents, form tutors, Birchensale head Tim Jones, assistant head Mark Brazier and Police Inspector, Mark Chappel.
The children delivered a presentation explaining what they learned about how the police do their job, from communication to the actions taken at a crime scene, gathering evidence, and the difference between anti social behaviour and crime.
The cadet project aims to help children think about issues they might not normally consider, like how to keep their property safe, and how their own behaviour impacted on the wider community, with a focus on consideration of others.
As well as building a positive relations between schools and police in Redditch, the project aims to improve attitudes towards police in general by working closely with the pupils, parents and staff.
