Redditch mum leading fight to cut food waste

Ross Crawford 16th Dec, 2016   0

A REDDITCH mum is urging residents to sign up to a new food swap initiative in a drive to cut waste.

Claire Davies, from Crabbs Cross, is part of a growing band of people using the new app ‘Olio’ to establish a network of like-minded locals happy to exchange food so it can be used within its sell by date.

“I’m sure I’m not alone in having bought something on a whim and found it sitting at the back of the cupboard unused until it passes its sell buy date and has to be thrown away,” said the mother of four.

“With Christmas looming, it would be the perfect time to get people on board, so surplus food can hopefully be saved from the bin.”

The swap shop scheme is billed as The Food Sharing Revolution and more details can be found online at https://olioex.com/
