SHOCKING figures have revealed that only ten per cent of men suffering domestic abuse are going to the police to report the crime.
The figures released by ManKind this week found that only one in five male victims of domestic abuse would report it to the police and the charity, which supports male victims of domestic abuse, is encouraging more to come forward.
Ian McNicholl, domestic abuse survivor and Ambassador of the ManKind Initiative, said; “I didn’t go to the police when I was experiencing abuse and it nearly cost me my life.
“These figures show there are males right across the country who have come forward and told the police and we must ensure that men experiencing domestic abuse or suffering from the symptoms of domestic abuse, know that they are not alone.”
