Redditch launches 1-to-1 advice to help jobless back into work

NEW one-to-one support to help people get back into work is available now from Redditch borough council.

A dedicated ‘job coach’ in the town is now providing a personalised service to help people who find themselves out of work for any reason discover their best approach to finding and getting a job they want.

Anyone can use the service by applying directly via a simple form at www.redditchbc.gov.uk/jobcoach, and referrals into it can also be made for people by participating agencies in the borough such as Job Centre Plus and many community and voluntary sector organisations.

Borough councillor John Fisher, whose portfolio includes finances and support services, said: “It might have been a long time since someone last had to apply for a job, or perhaps someone would simply benefit from the right advice. Whatever the circumstances, we don’t want any of our residents to feel like there are obstacles between them and where they want to be and we’re happy to be able to provide that extra support through this dedicated new service.”

The borough council won the funding to provide the service from the Big Lottery Fund from the National Lottery and the European Social Fund from the European Union (EU).

Job Coach Ashley Hewitt said: “We’re here for anyone that feels like they want a bit of help to get going. We’re very flexible in how we operate, it’s not a one size fits all approach and so we’re confident that there’s no-one we can’t support with job coaching.”
