Final call for Redditch residents to have a say on the future of hospital services

Redditch Editorial 12th Jan, 2017   0

REDDITCH residents have just one week left to have their say at a public health commission on the future of local hospital services.

The first public meeting in the commission set up by Redditch Borough Council to feed into a consultation into the future of Worcestershire’s acute hospital services by Worcestershire’s three clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) is at Redditch Town Hall tonight at 7pm (Thursday, January 12).

Borough councillors on the cross-party commission, which is chaired by council Leader Coun Bill Hartnett, have invited representatives of relevant health bodies to explain their plans at tonight’s meeting.

Two more Town Hall public meetings, where members of the public are invited to speak, then follow on Saturday, January 14 at 10am, and next Thursday (January 19) at 7pm.

Coun Hartnett said: “We’re all concerned over the future of local hospital services in Worcestershire, which has even started to come under the national spotlight after recent events. This health commission is your chance to help shape our formal response to the consultation, and make sure your views are heard.

“You can have your say by coming and speaking at the commission, or by sending us a letter or email.”

For a speaking slot just contact the health commission by 12 noon the day before the next two meetings on [email protected] or (01527) 64252 ext. 3268 or 1443.

To submit a comment to the commission in writing, complete one of the forms available in public buildings in Redditch or online at http://www.redditchbc.gov.uk/consultations. Alternatively write in using the email address above or to Health Commission, Democratic Services, Redditch Borough Council, Redditch Town Hall, Walter Stranz Square, Redditch B98 8AH.

The deadline for written submissions is 5pm on Friday, January 20.

All evidence gathered by the health commission will be sent to the CCGs’ consultation which runs until March, as well as to the borough council’s Executive Committee meeting on Thursday March 2. Recommendations for the borough council’s own consultation response will be made at that meeting.
