Redditch jewellery thieves get away with haul worth thousands of pounds

THIEVES in Redditch have stolen thousands of pounds worth of jewellery after breaking into a house this week.

Between 11am and 1pm on Monday (January 23) the criminals broke into a house on Brookfield Close by snapping the lock on the back door.

They then searched the property methodically before stealing the jewellery from the bottom drawer in the bedroom – worth between £4000 and £5000 – and making their escape.

On the same day, at around 11.30am, an occupant of a property in Stoneleigh Close, Oakenshaw disturbed a burglar in their home.

The thief who has been described as a white man, aged around 35, had a sock over his head and was wearing black boots.

When disturbed and confronted, he ran off, leaving via the conservatory before jumping over the garden fence and heading towards Grangers Lane.

Like the jewellery thief, it is believed he gained entry to the house by snapping and removing lock on the rear conservatory door with specialist lock snapping equipment.

Police officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team will be stepping up patrols and urge anyone who saw this offence or see anything suspicious to call police on 101. The log number for the incidents are 0222S 230117 (Stoneliegh Close) & 0354S 230117 (Brookfield Close)
