A CHARITY which supports families across Redditch has been given a helping hand by the North Worcestershire Rotary Club.
The club donated £1,000 to Home-Start (North East Worcestershire) which is currently struggling to cope with the demand for its services and relies on funding from a variety of sources.
Home-Start volunteers give non-judgemental, practical and emotional support to help build families’ confidence and assists them with problems they encounter in everyday life.
Each volunteer is carefully linked to a family and visits them at home once a week for two to four hours, developing a relationship with the parents and sharing their time and understanding.
The charity supports parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, debt, housing issues, domestic abuse, depression, alcohol and substance abuse, multiple birth, illness, disability, learning difficulties, completion of forms or just for those finding parenting a struggle.
