Indigo Arts to launch flea market in Redditch Kingfisher Centre

Redditch Editorial 7th Feb, 2017   0

REDDITCH’S very own Indigo arts is launching its first fund raiser of the season and a new project this Saturday (February, 11).

The day will see the charity set up a flea market in the empty shop next to Caffé Nero, encouraging Redditch shoppers to call in and pick up some bargains, as well as being entertained throughout the day by Redditch girl group ‘The Violettes’, who work with the charity.

The girls are celebrating their popularity after achieving more than 1,000 listeners on Youtube in the week of their first video release featuring an acoustic version of ‘Touch’ by Little Mix.

The funds raised from the flea market, which runs from 10.30am to 4pm, will go towards the development of Indigo’s Arts Lab in the town centre, providing a range of arts resources, activities and facilities for the borough,

On the same day the charity launches its latest project to pull together a group of young people with an interest in journalism and the media, who are looking for a forum to share news and views on the town, through writing, presenting, blogging, photography and video.

Working with digital artist Paul Stringer who specialises in photography and video production for commercial, editorial and individual clients, the group will be supported to create a vehicle to share their work using digital media.

Indigo are inviting anyone interested in getting involved, aged 16 to 25 years, to join Paul at the Arts Lab (entrance on Vine Street, at the rear of Kingfisher Walk) and spend a day sharing his experience, as well as creating, trying out and developing ideas. The day will run from 10am until 4pm.

Not only that, but the Indigo arts will be in the shopping centre from Wednesday to promote as part of the Kingfisher’s Health & Wellbeing Week.

Indigo also has spaces available for those who love singing and performing workshops, working with children aged from four years old to adults.
