Gifted Redditch pupils sticking to the artistic route

SPARKS were flying at a Redditch school this week as pupils learned how to create portraits using electrical tape.

On Tuesday (February 7) Gifted and Talented children from Redditch and Bromsgrove visited Beoley First School where they were treated to a special Art Workshop, hosted by Year 3 teacher and artist Dan Genders.

As part of a series of workshops organised for pupils in the Bromsgrove Pyamid, the youngsters at Beoley took part in the workshop that looked at ‘light and dark’ and the importance of looking carefully at lines when creating artwork.

They used celebrity faces as the stimulus and created their own works of art using electrical tape in the style that Dan specialises in.

Beoley teacher Dan recently appeared on the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year and is also author of the book ‘Trevor the Big, Fat Lying Pigeon’.
