A TEAM of Alcester students with the gift of the gab have got through the first round of the national Rotary Youth Speak competition.

The trio from Alcester Grammar School took part in the competition last week, pitted against another team from their own school plus two teams from Alcester Academy and two from St Benedict’s Catholic High School, which hosted the event.

The contest was based on the topic of politics, in particular the emerging socio-political climate and its impact on young minds.

The participating schools also showed their appreciation to the judges David Stanley, Proff John Gittus and Carrol Johnson of the Alcester Inner Wheel and gave thanks to sponsors Hemming and Peace Funeral Directors, Kings Court Hotel and Wall & Ceilings International.
