LOCAL police are urging people to not let their hearts rule their heads as Valentine’s Day looms.
In particular they want residents to be cyber crime safe if their dating efforts take them online in the search for love.
They say:
1) Only use a reputable online dating or chat service.
2) Online dating? It can work brilliantly but sadly there are some fraudsters out there.
3) Make sure it’s love they’re after and not your loot.
4) Don’t let your heart rule your head. Don’t fall for fraudsters.
5) How well do you know them? Are they looking for love or cash?
6) Make sure you find the love of your life not a fraudster.
7) Are they asking for money? Don’t fall for ‘hard luck’ stories.
8) Don’t reveal too much information about yourself.
9) Listen to your instincts. Does this person seem too good to be true?
10) Many people meet the love of their life online, others meet fraudsters.
