CROSS city trains between Redditch and Lichfield via Birmingham New Street have been suspended for the rest of the day.
Reports say a tree has come down near Five Ways Station and overhead cables have been damaged at Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, and just outside New Street.
In addition, the roof has been badly damaged at Lichfield City station.
Train operator London Midland advises passengers not to travel today unless absolutely necessary. Furthermore they say if passengers have not started their journeys to consider not travelling at all.
There are no replacements buses, however all train tickets will be accepted on public buses.
They say unused tickets for today will be valid on the same routes tomorrow (Friday, February 24).
A spokesperson for London Midlands said: “If you have already made your outbound journey, or you are in the process of doing so, we will make every effort to get you to your destination today (Thursday, February 23).
“In some areas this may be through a rail replacement bus or your London Midland ticket will also be accepted on other train operating companies.”
Those using the Cross City services in the morning are advised to check before travelling.
