Success on a plate for Redditch pupils

TASTE buds were tickled at Woodfield Academy last week as the finalists battled it out for the title of ‘Year 8 Chef of the Year 2016’.

Seven pupils had made it through and each was asked to prepare a three course meal inspired by a restaurant of their choice then lay the table and present their meals with homemade menus for the judges to enjoy, who included three guest judges from the restaurant ‘Ming Moon’ in Birmingham.

The overall winner was James Fardoe with his stir fry-style starter with crispy noodles and marinated chicken. His main included marinated chicken and peppers and his pudding was a Chinese-style dessert called Nian Gao served with whipped vanilla cream.

In second place was Georgia Burke who’s Mexican inspired menu saw the judges helping themselves to seconds and for some, thirds!




Callum Arnott’s Indian inspired menu based on food at Shahi Palace including his very own ‘Chicken Volcano’ finished third.
