POLICE in West Mercia have issued a series of tips for driving in windy weather:
Slow down – you’ll need extra time to react
Keep both hands on the wheel
Take extra care around cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders
Expect stronger gusts on exposed and open stretches of road
Be ready for stronger winds as you pass high-sided vehicles
Keep your distance from the vehicle in front of you
Check your route before you leave – fallen debris and accidents could temporarily close roads
If you see twigs or small branches in the road this could mean there’s a tree or large branch in the way around the next bend, so proceed with extra caution.
