GEARED up children from a Redditch school have been building up their cycling skills with expert help.
The six week cycling coaching course at Ridgeway Academy was run by Laura Ganderton of British Cycling and David Cartwright from Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club, and aimed to improve the basic cycling skills and confidence of pupils at the school.
Run as an alternative to PE lessons for six weeks, the coaching sessions taught the students basic cycling skills such as how to take corners safely and efficiently, how to use weight and balance while cycling as a group and general confidence on the bikes.
David, who joined the Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club around a year ago, said: “It has been a great course and to see the youngsters progress so positively has been very rewarding.
“From the very first week, I have seen the confidence of the children grow and blossom and it’s something I hope to continue to do in future.”
