REDDITCH pet owners should remain vigilant after high street store ‘Pets at Home’ recalled types of cat food in response to several cats falling ill.
The 2kg and 4kg versions of the AVA Mature Cat Chicken as well as the Senior Cat 2kg and the AVA Adult Cat Neutered Indoor 1.5kg have all been recalled after several cats consuming the food required veterinary care.
A spokesperson for Pets at Home said: “We are aware of three cats which, sadly, became seriously unwell four to six weeks after switching to one of the affected products and required veterinary care.
”All three cats exhibited symptoms of sudden collapse, fitting, widespread twitching and general unsteadiness which are not the classic symptoms of thiamine deficiency.”
People are advised not to feed these products to pets, but to dispose of the contents and return the packaging to any Pets at Home store for a full refund.
