Redditch's Kingfisher hosts Be Clear On Cancer Event

Redditch Editorial 2nd Mar, 2017   0

THE Kingfisher Centre in Redditch is playing host to the latest Be Clear On Cancer Abdominal Symptoms Campaign.

Today (March 2) Redditch residents can meet the team and discuss any concerns or share any of their stories with the team

There is also a qualified nurse on site who is available for customers to drop in at any point to discuss any worries they may have.

Chris Ryder, the Event Manager, said: ”Our main aim over the next two days is to educate people about the symptoms to look out for and to encourage people to go and see their doctor if they are worried.

”It is great to see so much interest in what we are doing today. We have spoken to so many people who have told us their stories and they are all amazing to hear.”

The roadshow is mainly targeted at people aged 50 or over and are at the most risk, but people of all ages are encouraged to visit.

He said: ”People see cancer as ‘The Big C’ and think of it as a death sentence so will bury their heads. Catching it early takes the pressure off the patient and the doctors.”

There were 413 cancer cases registered in Redditch last year alone with 189 deaths.
