REDDITCH residents are being warned not to fall victim to scams being carried out by bogus callers offering to repair any damage caused by last week’s Storm Doris.
Worcestershire County Council’s Trading Standards team wants to remind people rogue traders will be on the look-out for easy pickings and could even use scare tactics to rush home owners into repairs that could be unnecessary or end up being botched jobs.
Coun Lucy Hodgson, the county council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Localism and Communities, said: ‘’Rogue builders and repairers invariably move into areas following events like this and look to make money by ripping people off.
“They may lie about the extent of damage to property and about the repairs that are required.”
And she urged residents not to do any business with anyone who just turned up at the door.
“If you think you might claim on your insurance, find out from your insurer what you need to do before you get someone in,” she added.
