AS the seasons change, the local Dogs Trust branch’s ‘springiest’ resident is hoping to bounce into a new home before spring officially arrives.
A resident since the start of December last year – through no fault of his own – nine-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, Obi, has been at the Wickhamford-based rehoming centre throughout winter.
However he’s now hoping the change in seasons will bring a change of luck and he’ll find a new home to call his own.
Despite being an older chap, he appears much younger than his years and his bouncy temperament has led to his carers dubbing him their ‘springiest’ canine resident as he is at his happiest when he’s jumping through hoops, playing on the agility equipment or flying through the air to catch a ball.
Whilst the rehoming centre helps hundreds of dogs of all shapes and sizes find loving homes throughout the year, Obi has so far been overlooked in his quest to find a forever home and staff are worried that his age may be putting off potential adopters.
Chris Slight, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said: “Obi is a wonderful boy and a huge hit with all the staff at the centre. He is an older chap but he really is young at heart and loves nothing more than zipping about in the exercise paddocks and keeping busy with lots of fun and games. But he does love to curl up in a comfy bed after a day spent exploring the great outdoors.
“He is a bright spark but can find it hard to relax so is looking for a home with people who can take things slowly with him at first, but also make sure he has plenty of exercise and things to keep his quick terrier mind engaged. Once he is feeling more settled it would be beneficial for him to receive fun and positive training to keep him entertained.”
If you can offer Obi a home, call the rehoming centre on 0300 303 0292 or visit at 89 Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford, Evesham, WR11 7RT for further details on how you can help.
