Funding offer from borough council to help insulate Redditch homes

THE borough council is reminding residents that funding is still available to help them heat their homes after 16 households were helped by a county-wide scheme.

Recently, 16 low income households in Redditch with health conditions worsened by the cold benefited from a Worcestershire-wide ‘boilers on prescription scheme’.

Now that this county council scheme has finished, those residents who might have missed out are being reminded they can still access funding for energy efficiency improvements via the borough council.

The Redditch Energy Efficiency Fund provides help with improving heating systems for owner occupiers with a household income less than the Worcestershire average of £37,000.

Eligible applicants can access additional funding towards new heating systems, loft and cavity wall insulation as well as help with boiler repairs and servicing.

Councillor Mark Shurmer, whose portfolio covers housing services, said: “We might be heading into spring but now is the time to think about next winter before cold weather sets in again – it could keep you warm and save you money in the long term. If you think you might be eligible to receive help from the Energy Efficiency fund, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Contact Redditch borough council’s energy advice partners Act on Energy to find out if you’re eligible on 0800 988 2881.

Alternatively come along to the Older People’s Services event at the Town Hall this Thursday (March 9) between 10am and 12noon to speak to an advisor.
