STAFF from Karen Lumley, MP for Redditch’s office, have been busy organising a second Pensioners’ Advice & Information Fair, set for this Friday (March 17) from 10am to 12noon at the Mettis Social Club in Cherry Tree Walk, Batchley.
A similar events held at the Rocklands Social Club, Headless Cross on March 3 was a great success and more than 20 organisations are taking part is this one, as follows:
Act on Energy, Age UK, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, The National Trust, West Mercia Police, Home Instead, Carers Careline, Redditch Association for the Blind, Healthwatch Worcestershire, Care & Repair Worcestershire, Redditch Borough Council Health Improvement, Severn Trent Water, Trading Standards, Onside Independent Advocacy, Bromsgrove & Redditch Network, British Red Cross, Independent Age, Contact the Elderly and Helping Hands.
“The idea is to bring together, under one roof, a mix of statutory, voluntary and activity-based bodies who can showcase their services, and to bring them to residents in their own communities,” said Mrs Lumley.
“At the first Pensioners’ Fair people mentioned that they were amazed at how many organisations there were out there that they simply weren’t aware of.”
Mrs Lumley was unable to attend the Pensioners’ Fair in Headless Cross due to illness, but is hoping to be able to pop into this one.
Admission is free and refreshments will be provided as well.
