THE latest pensioners fair organised local MP Karen Lumley has been hailed a success.

A host of organisations and groups attended the event at the Mettis social club in Batchley and were rewarded with more than 100 people popping in for advice and to discover what is available.

“It’s a good way for people to find out about those services in Redditch that could support them,” said Bill Payne of Redditch Association for the Blind.

“This is particularly so as many older people do not have access to computers and it’s only by coming face to face with people here that they can find out anything.”

Organisations taking part in the one-stop shop included Act on Energy, Age UK, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, The National Trust, West Mercia Police, Home Instead, Carers Careline, Redditch Association for the Blind, Healthwatch Worcestershire, Care & Repair Worcestershire, Redditch Borough Council Health Improvement, Severn Trent Water, Trading Standards, Onside Independent Advocacy, Bromsgrove & Redditch Network, British Red Cross, Independent Age, Contact the Elderly and Helping Hands.

Mrs Lumley said: “As with the first event, visitors were delighted with the information they were able to gather, and exhibitors were happy with so many people to engage with all under one roof.

“I have to say that I was most impressed all round and am now looking forward to another two similar events that we have pencilled in for June and July.”
