Redditch music teacher Maria sings the praises of singing together

A REDDITCH music teacher is singing the praises of spending quality time with family as she gets set to launch a community choir with a difference.

Maria Brannelly, founder and musical director of Choirs Connected, is delighted to be launching the group’s very first meeting on Monday, March 27 and all are invited, regardless of musical experience.

“The idea is to get one adult and one child from the same family to come along and experience the joy of singing as part of a group,” she said.

“Whether you’re a parent who loves to sing and want to encourage your son to get into music, or have seen your children singing at school and always wanted to sing yourself, but never dared, come along and see us.

“Choirs Connected aims to get adults and children connected and working together towards a common goal. Singing in a choir is scientifically proven to boost mental health and impact positively on mood, so it may not just be fun, but good for you too.”

Classically trained musician and teacher Maria added: “This is a great opportunity to experience the joy of singing in a group and spending some quality time with a loved one.

“Singing is a great way to make new friends and have fun too, so we are looking forward to launching the group.”

Anyone interested can turn up at 6pm on Monday at St John’s in Greenlands and talk to Maria about signing up for the ten-week course.
