A RALLYING call to clean up Matchborough has come from local ward councillor Juliet Brunner.
The move follows rising concern from members of the community about the amount of litter in the community.
In response Coun Brunner, who leads the Conservative group on the borough council, has arranged a community clean up day this Saturday (April 1) starting at 10am, meeting in Matchborough centre by the steps.
“You can be part of the problem or part of the solution,” she said.
“I’m urging Matchborough residents to come help me be part of the solution.”
Coun Brunner is hoping that lots of young people will take part and has contacted the school council at Matchborough First School, Noah’s Ark Nursery and the ECO committee at RSA Arrow Vale Academy.
The day will also be supported by West Mercia Police Cadets, fast food chain McDonalds and Christ Church Community Project.
Starting at 10am and armed with a litter pick and sign cleansing Coun Brunner is hoping people will rally round and support the initiative and is asking volunteers to also bring a bucket and sponge to join her in washing street signs.
Afterwards refreshments will be served in Christ Church where a PACT meeting with police and councillors will be held.
“I’m really grateful for the support of Christ Church, McDonalds, West Mercia Police and our local schools and nursery who have enthusiastically agreed to help,” said Coun Brunner.
