MORE than £4,000 was raised for the Primrose Hospice after a four-strong team took part in a gruelling 24-hour walk in memory of Sandra Grubb.
Sandra’s nephew Justin Audibert, along with Charlie Hide, Lee Johnson and Dean Worral undertook the St Peter’s Way course to thank the charity for the help and support it had given her in the 13 months before she passed away.
They met through Dean when he assembled a team to do Oxfam’s trail walk challenge across the South Downs nine years ago and have since done the Three Peaks Challenge and walked the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall together raising a tremendous amount for charity on each occasion. During those challenges Sandra was a vital part of their support team.
For this challenge Mark Grubb, Sandra’s husband, drove the route and met them at various points to supply them with what they needed.
Mark said: “Sandra was genuinely loved by everyone and so for our nephew Justin and his friends to honour her in this way and to give something back to the people that cared for us so well during her illness is truly amazing.”
Emma Williams, The Primrose Hospice’s fund-raising manager for community engagement, said: “We are overwhelmed by the support this group have given to us here at the hospice.
“Taking on a 24-hour challenge and raising such a huge amount of money for the hospice.
“The money raised is vital and we can’t thank the group enough.”
