CREATIVE Redditch youngsters headed for St Stephen’s Church last week to discover whose artwork had been chosen to hang over the inner entrance to the town centre place of worship.
In all more than 100 packed into the building as the top three names were announced, with 12-year-old Marcie Fleming clinching the top spot and winning herself a tablet computer with keyboard and carrier.
The runners up were Rakhshanda Hassan aged nine and Grace Holtom, 13, with a Kindle and cover and having a star named after them by the Star Name Registry as prizes.
However no one left empty handed with cones of sweets for all who attended.
BBC Radio WM presenter Daz Hale gave out the prizes and all was presided over by the town centre chaplain and vicar of St Stephen’s the Reverend Paul Lawler.
Church spokeswoman Elaine Whitfield said: “It was a really well attended and exciting day and all the winners also received trophies and strolls commemorating their success.”
She added that Marcie would now be working with a graphic artist to turn her artwork into a mural to be displayed to all visitors to the church.
