WEST Mercia Police have, under the direction and control of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), carried out an investigation into allegations that Alison Hernandez, the Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), failed to properly declare election expenses when employed as an election agent during the 2015 General Election.
A final report was submitted to the IPCC Commissioner who has made the decision to refer the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
West Mercia Police have also, on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police, carried out an investigation into a linked allegation of improper electoral campaign spending returns within the Devon and Cornwall area.
This investigation has now concluded and has also been referred to the CPS.
