ALLOTMENT holders in Studley are being urged to step up security following reports of the main gate being left open on the Dunstall site on Redditch Road.
Parish councillors fear an open gate could act as an invitation to groups who might be difficult to move on.
“It’s in the plot holders’ interest to secure the gate,” parish chairman Coun Paul Beaman told a general purposes meeting.
“There’s water on the site and it’s daft us spending money and putting a fence all round if the allotment holders leave the gate open – the losses could be severe if they get the wrong type of people coming in.”
It was agreed that allotment holders should agree to open and close the gate as they come and go.
