TO celebrate the return of the Redditch Tour Series on Tuesday (May 9), Kingfisher Shopping Centre, in collaboration with Redditch borough council and Cycle Studio, is launching the Recycle Your Cycle initiative to distribute unwanted bikes back into the local community.

The Recycle Your Cycle drop off point, which will be set up in the centre from Monday (May 8) until Sunday (May 14), encourages shoppers to clear out their sheds and gardens of unwanted bikes.

Open from 9am to 5pm each day, the Recycle Your Cycle drop off point situated next to the Customer Services Desk, will accept donations of any adult and childrens bikes that are still in a workable condition.

All bikes will be checked to ensure they are road worthy and small repairs carried out where necessary before being donated back to the local community to support those in need.

Ken Williams, general manager at Kingfisher Shopping Centre said: “As part of our support for the Tour Series we wanted to do something to give back to the local community.

“The Recycle Your Cycle initiative will not only help shoppers clear out their homes and gardens of old and unwanted bikes it will also ensure those in the community that need a bike or have never had the opportunity to own one, get the chance to experience the joy of cycling.

“The Tour Series is a fantastic calendar event and we’re excited to be supporting the bike race for the fourth consecutive year. Every year the Tour attracts thousands of people from across the region and beyond, all who share a love of cycling.”

The Tour Series commences in Redditch on Tuesday and ends Monday, May 29, in Stevenage.
