REDDITCH Operatic Society are on the lookout for a leading lady to star in their upcoming musical ‘Sister Act’ to be performed at the Palace Theatre in November 2017.

Their search has officially begun to fill the role of ‘Deloris Van Cartier’ – also known as Sister Mary Clarence – a role which was made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the 1992 film by Joseph Howard.

ROS are looking for anybody who might be interested in taking on the role and invite them to attend their ‘Sister Act Introduction Night’ at Community House, 103 Easemore Road, Redditch, B98 8EY on Tuesday, May 23.

Running from 7.30pm, the Introduction Night provides the opportunity to find out more about the plans for the show from the production team.

Tony Jay, ROS chairman, said: “Whoever gets the part of Deloris will have some pretty big boots to fill because most people will have watched Whoopi Goldberg perform in the film. She is a huge character which needs someone truly dedicated to playing the part.

“We are looking for an actress with a pinch of glitz, a sprinkle of glamour and a whole lot of (on stage!) ATTITUDE. If you think you might be our Disco Diva and are interested in taking on this fantastic role please come along to our Introduction Night. Everyone is welcome.”

As well as the role of Deloris, ROS will also be looking to cast a number of other principle nuns, backup singers, dancers and men to play gangsters. The show will be performed at the Palace Theatre from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th November 2017.

Interested parties can get in touch in advance of the Introduction Night via the society’s Facebook page (@redditchoperatic), by email to [email protected] or by phone on 01527 455001.
