A MAN was seriously injured and has been airlifted to hospital after a two-car crash near Redditch yesterday evening.
Emergency services were called to the crash near Brook Inn public house in Sillins Lane at Elcocks Brook at around 5pm on Tuesday (May 16).
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a doctor on board were sent to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, both vehicles were found with front offside damage.
“The 26-year-old driver of one of the cars was initially trapped in the wreckage. He suffered a suspected fracture dislocation of his right hip as well as a head injury.
“He was helped from the car before being immobilised and having a pelvic binder put in place. After pain relied he was airlifted to the major trauma centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
The driver of the other car, a 48-year-old man, was complaining of hip pain. After assessment at the scene, he was taken by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital for further treatment.
