FOOD lovers from across the country will be heading for Alcester this Saturday (May 20) for the first of its two fabulous food festivals of 2017.

The street sellers will be open for business from 9am and with free entrance, free park and ride and no end of delights to sample and buy it promises to be a great day out.

With more than 100 exhibitors on offer will be the finest of cheeses, pies, artisan breads, cakes, fresh and cured meats, game, sausages, fish, fruit and vegetables, pickles, oils and preserves, a pig roast, and much more.

Also among the attractions will be Seriously Rich the company set up by The Apprentice winner Alana Spencer, who is a regular exhibitor at the festival.

“She’s been coming for a number of years, although we don’t know yet if she’ll be there in person,” said Alison Brown who is helping to organise the event.

There will also be a heavy emphasis on locally produced food with handmade chocolates, desserts and puddings, prepared foods, local beers, ciders, wines and spirits to enjoy.

“It’s a perfect foodie day out, forage through the food festival stalls, discover new and innovative products alongside old favourites and enjoy wonderful food and drink,” added Alison.

Not only that but there will be lots of street food to enjoy and with national charity Fare Share waiting in the wings there will be no wastage either.

“They’ll be arriving in the evening and collecting what’s left and taking it to feed the homeless,” said Alison.

The event is run by Alcester and Forest of Arden Food Festival ltd, a not for profit organisation which is helped by an army of volunteers.

“We share out any the money that comes in to good causes in the town, mainly to those who help us, like the Scouts, people behind the bunting, the Bloom team and litter pickers,” said Alison.

The free park and ride shuttle, provided by with Dudley’s Coaches is run from from Adams Way (off Arden Road, A4089) Arden Road industrial estate.
