GREENLANDS resident Sally Woodhall has joined the battle to be the borough’s next MP.
Standing as an independent, the mother of three and former member of Ukip described herself as a fighter with Redditch and Redditch alone at heart.
“If I am elected I will fight for this town every single day. I am totally independent, I have no political party to answer to and the only people who can influence me are the people of Redditch,” she said.
She lists as her number one priority the return of services to the Alexandra Hospital.
“It should never have been run down,” she said. “That hospital is our hospital, the people of this town bought and paid for every single brick of it and paid for all its equipment too.”
Ms Woodhall, an IT consultant, stood in Redditch North for Ukip in the county council elections on May 4 where she received 388 votes before resigning from the party.
Now a self-financing independent – she is appealing for donations to help fund her campaign – she says Brexit is going to happen no matter what.
“I want to get investment back in this town, I want these shops to re-open, to re-generate this town, and I will fight for it. This is a growing town and it needs jobs and it needs a hospital,” she said.
