Redditch councillor Brandon to become vice chairman

NEWLY-elected county councillor Brandon Clayton (Con, Redditch North) is to be the new vice chairman of Worcestershire County Council.

The announcement was made at a full council meeting at County Hall which also saw Simon Geraghty re-elected as leader of the authority.

Councillor Geraghty, the Conservative councillor for Worcester, Riverside first became leader of the council in January last year.

Following his re-election he said: “I would like to thank the members of the council for re-electing me as the Leader of the Council. We are making progress on the challenges we face but there is a lot to do and I am determined to deliver the ambitions that we have set out in our vision for the county, ‘Shaping Worcestershire’s Future’.”




Councillor Geraghty has appointed Adrian Hardman to be his deputy. The Conservative councillor for Bredon will also take on the responsibility for Adult Services in a newly formed Cabinet.

The new chairman of the authority is to be Anne Hingley, councillor for St Barnabas in Kidderminster with Coun Clayton deputising where appropriate.
