A BELLY dancer has raised more than £1,000 for the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation.
Emma Wheate-Price, a dancer, teacher and performer, raised £1,112 for the charity who provide life-saving community accessible defibrillators with a dance event known as a ‘Hafla’.
Emma, alongside friends, Maggie and Rob Underwood – who set up the charity in 2010 – decided to work together to help the local cause.
Emma said: “I suggested I would like to raise money to put a defibrillator in Bridley Moor & Batchley Social Club, as this is where we hold the Hafla.
“I teach a weekly dance class here and there are many other groups who also use this hall so I felt it was an important piece of equipment to have on the premises because it really can save lives.”
The money raised was the highest ever recorded for the a Hafla event and both Maggie and Rob expressed their grattiude for her efforts.
Maggie told the 160 guests how the loss of their own children had made her and her husband want to save the lives of others.
Emma has raised £11,000 for different charities over the past 10 years.
