AS the UK celebrates the difference that volunteers make during National Volunteers’ Week – from June 1-7 – Dogs Trust Evesham has a variety of volunteering roles available and is calling on local dog lovers to lend a paw and volunteer to help homeless hounds.
Although the charity has a dedicated team of staff, Dogs Trust also relies on the support of its volunteers who have given in excess of 2,000 hours to the charity in 2017 alone. From walking four-legged friends, being a temporary foster carer and helping at events Dogs Trust Evesham says their work could not continue if it wasn’t for the support from their herd of helpers.
People needed include:
Volunteer canine assistant: Are needed to help with the day to day tasks. A typical morning would be cleaning and walking dogs so volunteers will need to be prepared to get dirty!
Temporary foster carers: The Home From Home Scheme helps to give some of the residents who are in need of some extra TLC, a chance to enjoy some home comforts while they await their forever homes.
Home visitors: This role plays an important part in checking the suitability of prospective new adopter’s homes and the environment for that particular dog. Volunteers must be able to drive and have access to a car.
Fun Day event volunteers: Fun Day is the biggest event of the year in Dogs Trust Evesham’s calendar. Volunteers are needed on Sunday, June 25 from 9am to 4pm to help out in a variety of roles across all aspects of running the day.
Dogs Trust Evesham would love to hear from caring, hardworking volunteers and committed foster carers who are interested in any of the above roles. If you are interested in getting involved, please call the rehoming centre directly on 0300 303 0292 or email [email protected]
