Studley centre could be a ‘creative hub’

Redditch Editorial 3rd Jun, 2017   0

NEW plans could bring the creation of a ‘digital and creative hub’ on the site of the old Studley Centre youth club.

The proposal is just one of a series of development projects across Stratford district to be considered by a council cabinet meeting on June 5.

In a report to cabinet Andy McDarmaid, of ATI Projects Ltd, says the village, although home to many small businesses, has no affordable centre for start-ups, which are instead forced to move to Redditch, Alcester or Stratford to get off the ground.

The Studley Centre is owned by Warwickshire County Council, who had intended to sell the property but this has been suspended while various community development ideas are studied.

Stratford District Council wants to look at the business case for a digital and creative hub on the site and the likely demand for such an enterprise.

With plans for the Priory Square site, the project could create a ‘Studley Innovation Zone’.
