THE number one issue on the doorstep has been the Alexandra Hospital – that was the verdict of Neal Stote, the candidate for theNational Health Action Party in Redditch.
And the Redditch man, former chairman of the Save the Alex campaign, paid tribute to his team.
“We must have walked 25 kilometres yesterday and the same again today,” he said.
“We were the first to get our leaflets out and the response has been one of respect and genuine support.
“The Alex has been the number one priority on the doorstep.
“And every single one of the candidates standing has said ‘the Alex’, ‘the Alex’ so we have kept the health agenda at the forefront of the campaign here in Redditch.”
He also dismissed suggestions that by standing he had split the progressive vote.
“The electorate of Redditch has had a proper choice and anyone who says we have split the vote are against democracy and the right of people to choose.”
