A WHOLE host of brand new equipment is now on offer at a new play area in Redditch.

Alongside the Big Local team at Church Hill Redditch Borough Council has part funded building the new play area at the Willow Tree Community Centre.

Coun Bill Hartnett, Leader of the Council and ward member for Church Hill, said: “This partnership will see the Big Local team managing and maintaining the facility with help and guidance from our officers to ensure it meets the needs of the community.

“I am delighted that, by working together, we have delivered such a fun place for our young residents to enjoy.”

The project cost £53,908 and the Council used £28,000 of local S106 money – funds set aside for community and social infrastructure – to help the plans become a reality.

Wendy Johnson, Chair of Church Hill Big Local Partnership said: “We are absolutely delighted with the play park as are our younger residents.

“It was one of our first projects and has taken time and patience to come to fruition, but it was well worth it.

“Our thanks go to Redditch Council staff and Wicksteed for helping to make this project such a success.”

Mayor Jenny Wheeler visited the community centre for the grand opening on Monday (June 12) and a group of children tried out the new equipment for the first time.
