A SURVEY into travel patterns of people around the A38 corridor at Bromsgrove is to be conducted by Worcestershire county council.
As Redditch residents heading west know, the Bromsgrove bypass regularly creates a logjam of vehicles trying to reach the A38/A441 traffic island and then on the bypass itself.
The data gathering, which is necessary as part of the development of the A38 Bromsgrove Corridor Major Scheme, will be carried out later this month and may cause some delays.
The focus will be on traffic flows and journey patterns.
The information is needed to develop a business case for funding bids to improve this key transport corridor.
This is seen as essential to support investment and deliver economic growth, as well as reducing journey times.
Most of the information will be obtained using temporary roadside cameras and sensors at various locations on the highway network near Bromsgrove and the A38 corridor; additional information will be gathered via car park and road side interview surveys.
Councillor Dr Ken Pollock, the county’s cabinet member with responsibility for economy and infrastructure, said: “We have commissioned this vital study into the A38 Corridor, which will take place over a relatively short period of time later this month. Whilst there may inevitably be some minor disruption, we would like to thank users of the transport network in and around Bromsgrove in advance for their patience during this time.”
Interviews will include a short questionnaire relating to the specific journey a road user is making, however, to ensure total confidentiality the results of the survey will contain no details of or reference to any individual journey. All completed questionnaires will also be entered into a prize draw.
