THE Feckenham community joined together on Sunday to celebrate unity and common ground.
A tea party was held on the village green to remember MP Jo Cox, who was murdered a year ago, and the people of the village shared information on local charities and made collections including items for the food bank in Redditch.
The event was held as part of a nationwide get-together celebrating unity and in memory of Jo Cox and invited people to reject divisive politics and simply bring our communities together
People dug deep and as well as giving money to Redditch Nightstop, who help homeless youngsters in the area, they also brought along smart clothes to give to the charities helping dress unemployed people for job interviews, Smart Works and Suite for Success, Other clothing will be given to Bromsgrove and Redditch Welcome Refugees who will send the items to those in need.
Feckenham resident Gilly Cooper added: “We had a lovely day, joining together as a community to think about those things that we have in common being more important than those which divide us.
“The response was overwhelming and shows the generosity of spirit in our locality which is echoed across the country, not least in the reaction to the terrorist atrocities and the Grenfell Tower tragedy.”
