A POPULAR REDDITCH lady has been celebrating her hundredth birthday with not one, but two parties.
Mary Fletcher turned 100 years old on June 20 and celebrated with her many friends at the Bradley Green Village Hall.
With a special cake and tea aplenty, Mary, who is very sociable, enjoyed the occasion with her friends who attend the regular coffee morning drop-in together.
Animal-lover Mary also celebrates her birthday every year with a garden party at home with with her extended family, and this year was no different.
With a gazebo filled with flowers, balloons and around fifty guests – including some of her six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren – Mary marked the occasion in glorious sunshine.
Mary, who has three sons- Ian, and twins Peter and Micheal, has loved dogs since being a youngster and has dedicated much of her life to rescuing Collies from around the UK.
Rarely seen without a faithful canine friend by her side, Mary attributes her longevity to her active lifestyle. Living in Hanbury for many years, Mary would walk her dogs twice a day through the woods – something which doctors believe helped keep her fit and happy, and set her up to reach the 100 year milestone.
Described by her friends as ‘sociable’, ‘kind’ and ‘well-liked’, Mary is a real pillar of the Bradley Green community and her birthday was celebrated by all who know her.
